Haiti relief
There are opportunities to give, serve locally and go to Haiti. PV's mission partners for relief are The Global Orphan Project and Northwest Haiti Christian Mission.

Read reports from the July-August team. Next team is there Oct. 7-15, 2010.

SERVE LOCALLY:
Relief drives. The next drive is to be announced.

• Help with administrative/clerical tasks or making phone calls during church office hours. To volunteer for either opportunity, contact Debbie Collin, 816.781.5959 x201.

GO: Global Orphan Project
• Sign up for a mission journey. . Volunteers needed to speak French, provide medical care, work with children, distribute food or listen to and pray with Haitians.
1. Dates: Oct. 7-15, 2010, and Jan. 20-28, 2011. Vacation Bible school activities, youth outreach, construction (July & October only), medical care, food distribution, relationship building with Haitians at an orphanage through our partnership with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. Contact Randi Overby at 816.792.9671.
2. Minimum estimated cost: $1,750
3. Complete Global Outreach mission journey and childcare worker applications. Packets also are at the Global Outreach booth.
4. Obtain a current passport. Visit travel.state.gov for application information.
5. Make sure your immunizations are up to date. Visit the Centers for Disease Control for the latest recommendations for travel to Haiti. Vaccinations can be obtained at Clay and Platte county health departments. Prescriptions for malaria and diarrhea prevention must be obtained from your doctor. Please direct all medical questions to your doctor.

• Trained medical disaster relief team members. If you are already a disaster relief trained medical professional, there are opportunities to serve with the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief team. French or Creole speakers preferred. Email Bob West with your dates of availability and whether you are a doctor, nurse, etc.

• Can’t go? Help provide funds for someone else. Contribution instructions

• Attend a Ready, Set, Go! class if you have not previously attended. This class prepares you emotionally, spiritually and physically for missions. To sign up for this free class, contact Debbie Collin, 816.781.5959 x201 to register.

GIVE:
•Giving for Haiti.
• You can make a contribution to the Missions Fund on your offering envelope; however, please do not write “Haiti” on your envelope or check.
• Giving to the Missions Fund includes all of PV’s mission partners and projects locally, nationally and internationally. A portion of this fund regularly goes to support The Global Orphan Project’s work in Haiti.
• If you would like, you can give directly to The Global Orphan Project (text ORPHAN to 85944 to donate $10) or the International Mission Board’s Haiti Response Fund.

ADOPT:
PV’s Families for Adoption group has information about adopting Haiti orphans. Read more now, pick up information at the GO booth or Family & Care booth, or contact familiesforadoption@kc.rr.com, 816.668.5935.
