Next Steps

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, Pleasant Valley has a next step of growth for you. Spiritual maturity doesn’t just happen — it is a result of the intentional pursuit of Jesus.

In order to partner with you on your journey with Christ, PV offers a variety of Next Steps groups or classes. Your first step is to determine what description best fits where you are in your relationship with Jesus, and then to follow the suggested steps for that phase. Our goal is that as you participate in each phase, your spiritual growth will require you to take a “next step.”

So…where are you? And what is your Next Step ?

I’m interested in learning more about God and have questions about what it means to have an authentic relationship with Jesus.

Starting Point is the ideal small group for you if you have questions about the Bible or you’re investigating God’s purpose for you. This 12-week small group will allow you to ask your questions in a conversational format while also studying the 10 major themes of the Bible. Whether you are just beginning your journey with Christ, or returning back to Him after a long absence, Starting Point is your ideal next step.

Discover PV is where you’ll want to go if you’re curious to find out what PV is all about and where you fit in. In this class, you will learn about PV’s vision to unleash the transforming influence of Jesus within our church, the Northland and beyond. We’ll also help you and your family get connected in group life, ministries and serving.

I’ve explored the claims of Christ and am now at the point of making a decision to cross the line of faith and begin the journey of following Jesus.

Not sure how to do that? Below is just a simple explanation of God’s plan for salvation. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the church office to speak with a pastor.

God’s Love and His plan

God created us in His own image to be His friend and to experience a full life assured of his love, abundant and eternal. (John 10:10b & Romans 5:1b)

Since God planned for us to have peace and abundant life right now, why are most people not having this experience?

Our Problem: Separation from God

God created us in His own image to have abundant (meaningful) life. He did not make us robots to automatically love and obey him, but he gave us a will and a freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God.] (Romans 3:23 & Isaiah 59:2)

On our own, there’s no way we can attain the perfection needed to bridge the gap to God. Through the ages, individuals have tried many ways…without success. Good works won’t do it…or religion…or money…or morality…or philosophy. (Proverbs 14:12)

God’s Remedy: The Cross

Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He died on the cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between God and people. (I Peter 3:18, I Timothy 2:5, Romans 5:8)

Our Response

Believing means trust and commitment — acknowledging our sinfulness, trusting Christ’s forgiveness and letting Him control our life. Eternal, abundant life is a gift for us to receive. (John 3:16 & John 5:24)

Is there any reason why you shouldn’t cross over to God’s side and be certain of eternal life?

I have committed to follow Jesus as my Lord of my life, and have followed Him in baptism. I faithfully attend weekly worship services at PV, and I’m now ready to grow in my understanding of the Bible and explore God’s purpose for me.

Membership class is a place you'll find yourself if you've gone through PV and decided you're interested in committing to make PV your church family. Here you'll learn more about why it's important to worship together as a church, what it means to take the Lord's Supper, why we baptize by immersion and what we believe about God, Jesus, the Bible and other doctrines.

Community Groups are the primary small group environment for growing in relationship with God and others. Groups meet both on and off campus at various times throughout the week, for the purpose of doing life together with others in a similar life-stage. Learn more about Community Groups.

Discover Your Design is crafted specifically to help you learn how God wired you and where you may be able to best serve God and others geared around your gifts and talents. If you're interested in serving in ministry, but not sure where to start, this is the class for you.

Spiritual Growth Studies are groups of people who come together to study certain topics or areas of interest. Whether you're learning about the character of God with a group of women, what it looks like to be a spiritual leader in your home with a group of men, how to find freedom in the area of finances or a variety of other topics, these groups intentionally lead you through scripture in a purposeful way that will engage you in a more personal relationship with God.

Care Groups are designed to offer hope and healing through an encounter with Jesus. We believe that Jesus can restore every life, no matter how broken or hurt, and we are passionate about seeing life change happen through these Groups in God-sized ways. Learn more about Care Groups.

I am a committed member of PV, Community Group participant and ministry servant. I am ready to share my journey by guiding others in their faith as a ministry leader and telling others about Jesus.

Global Outreach is all about making Jesus famous within our city, across the world and everywhere in between. We believe that when Jesus said to make disciples of all nations, he gave that responsibility to each and every one of us. Global Outreach partners with you to live out that calling here locally, across the nation and around the world. Learn more about Global Outreach.
