Our kids basketball programs teach kids basketball fundamentals in a fun environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, self-esteem and healthy competition.

Families are busier than ever, so our family-friendly schedule – one-hour games and one-hour practices each week – is designed with you in mind! Each child will have the chance to learn basketball skills and basics from positive and fun coaches.

Basketball runs from January to March each year. Registration for our next season of basketball starts in October 2014. More information will be released closer to that date.

Upward Sports’ kids soccer programs provide a positive sports experience for the whole family. With our family-friendly schedule of one-hour practices and one-hour games each week, your busy family will be able to participate in this fun sports program!

No matter the level of soccer experience, your child will learn soccer skills from positive coaches who don’t yell at your child. Coaches also focus on teaching sportsmanship, self-esteem and other values that encourage your child in soccer and in life.

Soccer runs from August to October each year. We’ll begin enrollment for the 2014 season in the summer! More information will be released closer to that date.

Be a Winning Parent!

As a parent, you play a very important role in building the self-esteem and character of your child and every child in this league. Players look to their parents, coaches, and referees as models for sportsmanship, respect for authority, and positive attitudes. By being a positive participant in this league, you can provide a lasting effect in these children that will live well beyond the end of the season.

What you can do to ensure a meaningful experience for your child:

Make sure your child arrives on time to practices and games. After each practice, ask your child about the practice devotion and Scripture that was shared with him/her. Look for positive actions during practices and games that you can praise your child for. During practices and games, support the coach by allowing him or her to give any instruction or feedback to the team. Directions from multiple sources can cause confusion to the players. Cheer for both teams. By doing this, you help to create an environment in which every child is supported. Support the volunteer referee with positive comments only. They are giving their time to your child. After the game, join your child’s team and cheer for each player as game-day stars are distributed.

If you are interesting in helping as a coach and/or referee, we will need all of the following prior to the first practice.

Star awards are given to every participant at the end of each practice and game for the purpose of encouraging and building self-esteem of each child. Instead of the outcome of the game, the focus is shifted to the attitudes and efforts of each child on the team or squad. This should be a time of excitement. Parents should be encouraged to cheer for participants as each star is presented. Stars come in the colors listed below.

Basketball, Soccer,and Flag Football
The white star stands for Christlikeness
The blue star stands for best effort
The gold star stands for best sportsmanship
The gray star stands for best offense
The red star stands for best defense
The green star stands for Scripture learning
The orange star stands for best leadership (flag football only)
