There are times when all of us encounter a life problem that results in the need for help. Through biblical wisdom and community, we want to walk alongside you through your difficult situation and point you to the One who is able to heal any wound and calm any storm.

Needs and crises can come in all shapes and sizes. PV's Freedom Ministry provides a variety of ministries, groups and trained volunteers to help those going through financial hardship, illness, life-controlling addiction or difficult life events.

Stephen Ministry

We know that life is hard and sometimes you just need someone to listen, but it’s finding the right person to listen that can get tricky. We don’t want to make it any harder for you to find someone who is dependable, a good listener, nonjudgemental, will keep your confidence and will walk beside you for as long as you need.

That’s why we have Stephen Ministry, which is named after the first lay person in the Bible appointed by Jesus’ disciples to “go out and help meet the needs of the people.” As soon as you express interest in meeting with a Stephen Minister, we will start the process of matching you with someone that is ready and willing to meet with you on a regular basis to provide one-to-one, Christ-centered care and support.

Stephen Ministers care for a variety of people, including those experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, terminal illness, loneliness, spiritual crisis, hospitalization, relocation, and other life difficulties. Men are matched with men, women with women. Caring relationships last for as long as the person needs this level of care.

A Stephen Minister has received special training, but is not a professional counselor, ordained pastor or problem “fixer.” If you would like more information about how you can get help or how you can become a Stephen minister, contact the church office at 816.781.5959.
